The role of scale inhibitors

Scale inhibitor is a water treatment agent that prevents the deposition of hard water scales such as calcium and magnesium in water treatment equipment and pipelines. These hard scale will gradually accumulate and form hard deposits, reducing the efficiency of equipment and pipelines and leading to machine failures and equipment damage.

Scale inhibitors can delay and reduce the formation of hard scale by:

Chemical stabilization: Scale inhibitors can combine with harmful ions (such as magnesium and calcium) in hard water to form hydrophilic and insoluble compounds, thereby reducing the calcium and magnesium content in the original water quality and preventing it from settling into hard scale

Dissociation of calcium molecules: Calcium molecules are excited by ultraviolet radiation in water, resulting in an air redox reaction that generates hydroxyl radicals. This reaction disrupts the original structure of calcium molecules and prevents such h3 bonding during bonding, thereby delaying the formation of scale layers.

Chelating and complexing: Scale inhibitors can form complexes of calcium and magnesium ions in water, making them stable and dispersed in water without precipitation.

Overall, scale inhibitors can effectively control the formation of hard scale, improve the efficiency and production capacity of equipment and pipelines, thereby saving energy and reducing maintenance costs. They are one of the important chemical substances in the water treatment process.
