What are copper corrosion inhibitors

Copper corrosion inhibitor is a chemical substance used to suppress and prevent the corrosion of copper and its alloys. The following are several common copper corrosion inhibitors:

Triethylenetetramine (TETA): TETA is an organic amine compound with excellent corrosion inhibition performance. It can form a protective complex film with the surface of copper, preventing further oxidation and corrosion of copper.

Benzotriazole (BTA): BTA is a widely used corrosion inhibitor with good corrosion inhibition effect on copper. It can adsorb on the surface of copper, forming a protective film, blocking the contact between copper and oxygen, moisture, etc. in the environment, and playing a corrosion inhibiting role.

Imidazole type corrosion inhibitors: such as 1-mercaptobenzimidazole (MBI) and benzimidazole (BZT). These imidazole compounds can undergo coordination reactions with the copper surface, forming a protective film and slowing down the corrosion rate of copper.

Glutathione (GSH): Glutathione is a natural corrosion inhibitor with good reducing and antioxidant properties. It can form a protective oxide film on the surface of copper, inhibiting further corrosion of copper.

Nitroacetate: Nitroacetate is an organic acid compound that has a certain corrosion inhibition effect. It can react with the surface of copper, forming a protective film to prevent corrosion and oxidation of copper.

Suitable corrosion inhibitors need to be selected based on specific application scenarios and requirements, and used according to relevant guidance and operating methods.
