What are scale and corrosion inhibitors

Scale and corrosion inhibitor is a chemical substance used to prevent or reduce the formation and corrosion of scale (such as calcium, rust, etc.) on metal surfaces. They are usually widely used in water treatment, industrial production, and pipeline systems.

Scale inhibitors work through the following aspects:

Scale inhibitor: Scale inhibitor forms a thin film with the metal surface, hindering the adhesion of scale and preventing its further growth. This thin film can reduce the contact between the metal surface and dissolved substances in water, thereby reducing the generation of scale.

Dispersant: The dispersant in the scale inhibitor can disperse small scale particles in water, avoiding their aggregation and deposition. By dispersing scale particles, scale inhibitors can maintain the cleanliness and smoothness of water bodies.

Corrosion inhibitor: The corrosion inhibitor component in the scale and corrosion inhibitor can react with the metal surface to form a protective oxide film, slowing down the corrosion rate of the metal. This oxide film can provide a protective layer to prevent direct reactions between metals and oxygen, water, and other chemicals in the solution.

The application of scale and corrosion inhibitors can effectively protect equipment and pipeline systems, extend their service life, reduce maintenance costs, and improve production efficiency. When selecting and using scale and corrosion inhibitors, it is necessary to determine suitable products based on specific application conditions and needs, and follow the instructions for correct dosing and control.
