What are the types of flocculants

Flocculant is a chemical substance used for water treatment and wastewater treatment, whose function is to aggregate solid particles or colloidal substances suspended in water into larger clumps for easy sedimentation or filtration. The following are some common flocculants:

Inorganic flocculants:

Iron chloride: One of the commonly used inorganic flocculants, which can effectively aggregate suspended particles.

Aluminum chloride: Similar to iron chloride, it is also commonly used in wastewater treatment.

Aluminum sulfate: has h3 flocculation and precipitation ability.

Polyaluminum chloride (PAC): It is an efficient flocculant that can be used in various water treatment fields.

Organic flocculant:

Polymer flocculants, such as polyacrylamide (PAM) and polyethylene imine (PEI), are commonly used in wastewater treatment and sewage treatment.

Cationic flocculants: such as polydimethylenediamine cyclohexylidene acetate (PDADMAC), polydimethylenediamine (PDMDAAC), etc., suitable for various water treatment fields.

Anionic flocculants: such as organic polymer sodium octanylbenzenesulfonate (SSSA), commonly used in wastewater treatment and pulp and paper industry.

These are only some common types of flocculants, and there may be other types of flocculants in practical applications. The specific selection and use should be determined based on water quality, treatment objectives, and process requirements. In the process of water treatment, experiments and adjustments should be carried out according to the actual situation to achieve the best flocculation effect.
